It seems like quite a while, but finally I am fully healed. For the last week I haven't really had a bruise, just a slight redness under my eye, but now all the colour is completely gone.
The doctor's estimate was 4-6weeks for healing, and while taking the E3Live supplement I healed is just slightly over 3 weeks (although after week 2 I looked pretty much healed).
For the most part I am all healed up... some slight brusing left under my eye and a small bump that you can't see, but you can feel it around my eyebrow. It is slightly tender, but for the most part feels okay.
I am anticipating that I will be fully healed at 3 weeks.
Tuesday, September 14, 2010 started out just like every other day. I woke up to my radio alarm playing virgin 99.9, I brushed my teeth, got dressed, and took my morning E3Live supplement. I put the leash on my puppy, Quigley, and headed downstairs.
I grabbed my bike and headed out for our morning bike run. We biked to the Whitby Promenade with the gorgeous lake and harbour views. Quigely runs loyally beside me and we made some regular stops along the way.
We were headed toward home, on the final stretch down Brock St, when we saw a pedestrian walking their dog up ahead. Many people exercise their dogs in the morning, so this wasn't an unusal occurance... except when we went to pass the pedestrian the dogs decided it would be a good idea to meet up.
I have been taking E3 Renew Me for a couple weeks now - with an open mind to see how this product works. I take two capsules every morning, and I take 2 capsules of E3AFA in the evening.
Shortly after starting the E3 products I was diagnosed with a stomach ulcer - from stress - which had been waking me up at night (the ulcer was brewing before I started E3 products... but I went to the doctors and was diagnosed with the ulcer on Friday, August 6). I started taking an acid reducer medication before bed to help me last the night without waking up in pain.
I was feeling quite tired - a combination of being woken at night due to the ulcer, and because I often would start work/riding in the morning getting up around 7am, and would get home and into bed not until about midnight... the summer is such a busy time of year.
Days passed by and I kept taking the supplements. I noticed that I was beginning to sleep through the night and was feeling more rested during the day. I stopped taking the acid reducer medication at bedtime then 2nd week of August and I was completely fine.
My stomach ulcer appears to have healed - I still sleep from about midnight to 7am... or if I am lucky I get to bed by 11pm, so my sleeping habits haven't changed that much, but I do feel more rested and energized.
On Thursday September 2 the horses received their trim which rounded out the 3 month experiment with E3Live FOR HORSES. In the beginning Nifty was struggling to fight off Strangles, Missy was anxious all the time and had cracking feet, and Thetis had hooves that were flaring and cracking.
The experiment has been pretty easy to implement - the horses received a regular feeding of the E3Live FOR Horses Supplement mixed in with their daily grain feeding. We introduced the supplement slowing with just a couple of scoops each day until they reached the full dose. The horses have eaten the supplement happily and we haven't had to try and disguise the supplement with molasses or other sweets... the horses just eat it the way it is.
After about 8 weeks of the experiment Nifty had kicked Strangles out of his system and you can see his wound is fully healed. Missy had a completed change in behaviour around 7-8 weeks into the experiment - we know call her 'snuggle bug'. It seems that everything is in balance and Missy isn't running on an adrenaline high anymore... she is still an alert and sensitive horse, but she 'thinks' a lot more. Both Missy's and Thetis's hooves have improved immensely and the flaring and chips/cracks are completely gone. The farrier has noticed a big difference in the quality of the hoof and has told me to 'keep doing whatever it is that I am doing.'
Stella and Greg distribute E3Live FOR Horses and were interested in the study that Missy, Thetis and Nifty are participating in. Stella and Greg have been very helpful in explaining E3AFA to me, and letting me know the proper dosing for the horses.
It was a special treat when Stella and Greg came up for a visit to see the horses in person! They came and met all of my horses at WestRidge Farm - and even posed for a couple pictures with Nifty!
A big thanks to Stella and Greg for all of your help!
Before starting the E3 Live experiment, Missy was quite a skittish mare. I only purchased her in October – for the first couple weeks it could take an hour to catch her.
After working with her playing join up and other various natural horsemanship games, we were able to build some trust and Missy and I were starting on a true partnership together. One the ground we can make tasks look like magic because she is so sensitive that she picks up on every ideal cue I give her.
Despite being a very willing and smart mare, Missy is quite an alert horse and easily scared. If you are familiar with Parelli language then you would know Missy as a right brained extrovert. Meaning she tends to stay in the fight or flight frame of mind and with lots of energy!
Missy would always be very alert and it would take a good chunk of time to work with her to the point of getting her a bit more left brained (in a thinking frame of mind). She has been progressing really well, I could ride her bareback, and do some jumps – but I always had to be very aware that Missy could switch back to ‘fight or flight’ thinking
mode really quickly.
Of late, everyone at the barn has noticed a dramatic difference in Missy’s temperament. I would like to take all of the credit with my fabulous natural horsemanship skills, but you can’t ignore the timing. I was told I would see results in my horses in about 7 weeks, and it was around 7 weeks into the E3 Live experiment that Missy started making huge progress. She is like a snuggly bear out in the paddock and often will greet people at the gate. She is easy to catch – most of the time she comes when I call. She stays more in a thinking frame of mind, and
we see her enter that fight or flight mode less and less often.
I’ve been feeling so much more confident with missy that we went for our first trail yesterday! She was super amazing – she did fine the signs on the fence a bit scary, but overall she was just wonderful!!
10 weeks in to the E3 Live experiment and we are starting to see some serious changes. On July 22, 2010 my farrier came out to trim both Missy and Thetis’s hooves.
Kenny said ‘What ever you are doing keep doing it!”
Kenny mentioned that he noticed a substantial amount of growth in both of the mare’s hooves. He also saw that the hoof had a good texture. Kenny explained that at this time of year the horse’s hooves tend to be quite brittle and dry.
Kenny picked up a trimming of Missy’s hoof and starting bending the hoof material – it didn’t break or crack… it was flexible and able to bend. Kenny said this was a good sign of the hoof being hydrated and in good condition.
For the first time since I owned Missy and Thetis, Kenny said he could properly trim away the flaring of their hooves because the hoof was strong enough to be cut away.
This was all great news that the horse’s were growing their hooves in a season that typically sees dry and brittle hooves.
I am going to follow Kenny’s advice and “keep doing what I’m doing!”

The horses have been taking the E3 Live supplement for 4 weeks now and have reached the full recommended dose of 10 scoops of the supplement. The horses had trims on Thursday the 17th, and I took pictures at the same time of the three horses and have the pictures to share with you.
The horses have been eating their supplements with no problems at all. Even Mr.Picky doesn't try to avoid his green pieces of food. It has now been 4 weeks since we began this experiment. The farrier came up on Thursday the 17th, which is also when I took some photos.
The farrier mentioned that the damage that was already done to the horse's hooves would not heal, but it is the new growth that we will look at to assess if the supplement is working.
This means that the chips, flares, and cracks that were already present in the horse's hooves will not get better - it is the new hoof growth that should be hard and strudy with no chips, cracks or flare. As more new hoof grows, more old hoof will be filed and cut away until the horse's hoof is all 'new' hoof and healthy.
Missy - she had a large amount of cracks and chips with some flaring at the beginning of the experiment. We can see that there are no new chips, flares, or cracks - and importantly the new hoof growth has no chips, cracks or flare to it.
Thetis - she has a fair bit of flaring happening in her front feet, but the new hoof growth is not flaring. She also had some chips and cracks and her new hoof growth seems quite solid.
Nifty - his sore in his throat area is still there. It does seem a bit smaller than 4 weeks ago and it isn't pussing the way it was before. Now that Nifty is receiving the full dose of recommended supplement I look forward to seeing how quickly this can heal up.
I am curious to know what other people think that are using E3 Live with their horses, or that are taking it themselves. I have found some testimonials and video clip to share. Please share your comments on this post!
This is what some other people are saying about E3 Live!
I had no problems getting the horses to eat the supplement when they were receving 1 and 2 scoops, it was when we reached 3 scoops of the supplement that I noticed Mr. Picky trying to avoid the supplement.
Nifty was very difficult to get to eat his antibiotics too - we tried molasses, apple sauce, lots of grain, etc and we ended up having to dissovle the medication and shoot it into his mouth because he wouldn't touch the grain.

At the 2010 Everything Equine Trade Show I was introduced to the horse supplement 'E3 Live'.
I am always interested in the best health for my horses. As a trainer I understand the importance of good nutrition because some horses can behave poorly largely due to nutritional reasons. As a Public Health Nurse I understand and appreciate the importance of good nutrition because having the best nutrition will help you fend of disease, give you more mental & physical energy, and give you the building blocks your body needs to be able to perform to the best of it's ability.
When I saw the E3 Live supplement booth I became intrigued to learn more. Here is some of the information I learnt:
Many soils are nutrient deficient because of many years of wear. This means our horses are not getting all of the nutrients out of their hay and grass that they may have many many years ago. Aphanizomenon flos-algae (blue-green algae) is one of the simplest form of life and provides rich nutrition since a time when blue-green algae had to support life because there was no grass at all.
E3 Live uses wild grown blue-green algae from Klamath Lake in Oregon. This is organically grown and harvested for the nutritional benefits - it naturally holds many vitamins and minerals. Crystalloid Electrolyte Sea Minerals are added to the blue-green algae to help the horses absorb and digest the algae. This combination lets your horse get the most nutrients our of the algae.
One of the great things about E3 Live is that it provides a money back guarentee! If you aren't satisfied with the product's result, then they will refund a whole years worth of product!!!
The decision was easy, why not try this new supplement? It is a complete supplement with all the vitamins and minerals that your horse needs to fill in the gaps that their hay and grass is missing... and it comes with a money back guarentee!
