Why choose Natural Horsemanship?
LFEquestrian lessons teach natural horsemanship. This means we teach leadership and communication which puts your relationship first with the horse.
The benefits include:
- You get a better partnership with your horse so that your horse is more willing, calmer, and safer to work with
- Helps to give you and your horse confidence because you have trust and respect for each other
- You learn the language of horses which means you are better able to handle situations when no coach or trainer is around - because you understand horses and how they react
- You end up with a well rounded horse that is easy to work with in general - for the vet, farrier, grooming, etc because you don't just focus on riding only, you learn how to handle horses in general
- You can understand what, why, and how to act and react because natural horsemanship is based on horse psychology which you will learn
- Your horse learns to want to be with you which means your horse will try for you - so you have a better competitor in the show ring, a safer ride on the trail, or whatever it is that you want your horse to do they will try!
- You can still work on riding, your position, and exercises that enhance the rider/handler, the difference is that the horse is also taken into consideration so that you get the best results
- So much choice! There are so many areas and topics to learn and practice when you open the door to natural horsemanship
- Feel safe! Working with horses using natural horsemanship is much safer than using intimidator style tactics
Lindsey has a lot of experience to draw from
- You have the chance to go to competitions, have lessons on trails, or progress to part boarding or owning a horse
- You have the ability to try a different discipline or type or riding without changing instructors
- Lindsey offers free lance coaching where she travels to your own farm, which means Lindsey can coach you even if you move to another farm
- Lindsey started with horses using the old intimidator style techniques before she learned natural horsemanship - This means Lindsey can understand both ‘worlds' or thinking, which can help when you are learning about natural horsemanship after learning 'traditional' techniques
- Lindsey is a Registered Nurse-so in the unlikely event something bad should happen, you're in good hands
- Lindsey has proven her knowledge by obtaining various certificates including her English Rider Level 8, her Parelli Level 1 in natural horsemanship, her Canadian Coaches Certification, and winning the Top 20 Under 20 Award for Leadership and Innovation for her work with horses. *Note Lindsey is not a Parelli Instructor
- Lindsey's book on natural horsemanship is available, which can provide guidance and learning in consistent language for when there is no coach or trainer around

Lessons are all with a natural horsemanship focus. Usually all lessons begin with some ground games instruction. Depending on the goals and needs of the lesson, the lesson could be entirely on the ground, or it could be mostly riding.
LFEquestrian works with you to help you meet your goals. You can choose to focus on ground games, jumping, learning to canter, and many other goals.
Students that take part in lessons are welcome at the farm during regular hours to spend ‘non demanding time’ with horses. This includes grooming, feeding treats, hand grazing, and spending time watching the horses in the paddock. Non demanding time is encouraged with horses because it helps to build a better partnership with the horse – this is because the horse learns that you don’t always need to make them do something, but instead you can have non demanding time together.
Students of LFEquestrian are ages 5 years and older. Many students of LFEquestrian are adult equine enthusiasts looking to build safer and better partnerships with horses.
Students of LFEquestrian have the opportunity to participate in clinics, shows, and special events like group trail rides.
There are many pricing options for lessons – see below.

The horse is 'yours' for the lease and you can ride/play with the horse as much as you want, when you want. The lessee is responsible to pay board for the horse and any maintenance care (trims from the farrier, de-worming, etc). You also get 1 free lesson per month with the horse, and additional lessons are discounted at $50/hr for private lessons, or $30/hr for group/semi private lessons which can be arranged based on what you need/want.
